Nile Rodgers attended the New York City premiere of the Court TV production Chasing Freedom on January 13. The film, inspired by the story of a young Afghan woman seeking political asylum in the United States, deals with the harsh reality asylum-seekers face upon their arrival and beyond. Chasing Freedom dramatizes a topic that has grown increasingly critical in recent years, as the United States grapples with the need to keep its citizens secure yet also provide refuge to immigrants who are in danger
in their own homelands.
In making Chasing Freedom, Court TV collaborated with the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights (LCHR), and Active Voice. The LHCR supports human rights activists who fight for basic freedoms and peaceful change at the local level, protects refugees in flight from persecution and repression. Active Voice is dedicated to encouraging individuals and community groups to probe and discuss, then take action on timely, relevant issues such as racism,
immigration and human rights.
The film will premiere on Court TV - The Investigation Channel Monday, January 19 at 8:00 ET/PT |
